Shawn's painful experience
Saturday morning his knee was still hurting, but he was not ready to see the doctor yet. Plus he had plans to go shoot his gun with a friend and did not want to miss the chance to shoot. But by the time we were done shooting his knee was hurting more and I had finally talked him into going to the doctor. However, living in the remote area we do the only place open with a doctor is the hospital in Afton. Well that or Jackson or Idaho Falls both which are further away plus no one in Jackson takes our insurance. So process of elimination brought us to Afton.
While at the hospital the pain really started to intensify. A couple of times I felt the tears coming to my eyes. I have such a hard time seeing anybody in pain. The doctor couldn't really tell us what was wrong, so he ordered x-rays. Upon seeing the x-rays we were told that the knee cap was not where it was suppose to be. The doctor wrote a prescription for oxycodone, put a brace on it, gave us crutches, and set up an appointment for an MRI. Which we were told was the only way to know what exactly was going on with his knee.
The MRI was scheduled for Monday so in the mean time we kept Shawn doped up on pain killers and rested. It was a long weekend with not much sleep. We went to the hospital Monday for the MRI, but was told it would be a few days before the whole MRI process would have an answer.
Shawn saw the orthopedic specialist on Wednesday to find out what exactly the MRI said, but living in the remote area we do he was told that it had not been transcribed yet. But the doctor said that it appeared to him that Shawn strained his knee and nothing more. Strained what in his knee exactly we don't know. So unless the transcribed MRI says something different that was the prognosis. The GREAT NEWS was no surgery. That doctor gave him a much smaller knee brace and sent him to therapy. Shawn has since quit taking the pain killers had a couple more sessions of therapy and will do a follow-up appointment tomorrow (Wednesday the 17th).
All we can figure is he injured his knee while working on his knees that Friday and not sure why it waited numerous hours to start hurting!?! Meanwhile he is looking forward to going back to work and for his knee to feel good enough to go hunting. I will keep you posted on what the doctor says at the upcoming appointment.
Aunie & Papa Visit
Aunie & Papa a.k.a. Chris (Mom) & Dan finally made it out to Wyoming for a visit. We hadn't seen them in just over a year. Not since we had been out to Oregon last August for our summer vacation. They had been wanting to make it out for some time to see our new house, but have been very busy as have we. It was a great visit minus their flat tire issues. They brought their camper and stayed in our driveway. Clayton & Mekenna were so excited to stay in the camper with Aunie & Papa. We had all sorts of plans, but the weather decided not to cooperate with those plans. It was labor day weekend and instead of one final weekend of warm weather the rain and cold decided to roll in. So taking the jet skis out for one last time this summer didn't happen.
However, we packed the fishing poles and Dan had brought his canoe and we headed up to Soda Lake for a day of fishing. If I remember right everyone caught at least one fish if not more. It was a good time even though we got rained on a couple of times. Well that and Mekenna coming an inch or so away from tipping her, Clayton, and Papa out of the canoe. We made memories by watching movies, playing games, and just spending time together. Thanks for coming to visit Aunie & Papa!! We love you and hope to see you again soon!!
P.S. We did have one causality. . . . my fishing pole :-( On the bumpy ride home it got caught on a tackle box or something and the tip of it cracked. Hopefully it won't be to hard to fix.
**Another side note more pictures from Aunie & Papa's visit to come later. I have some more that are still on the roll of film in my 35mm camera

TeRRiLL ReUnIOn
The next morning started with breakfast followed by Mekenna, Chase, and Chandler playing "hide the monkeys" game while waiting to leave for Lagoon. After a little battle with Utah traffic we entered the fun in sun Lagoon. We spent the day riding rides, visiting, and having a great time. The kids - Mekenna, Chandler, Gabe, Chase, Emmalee - spent many hours exploring kiddie land with the help of the adults keeping them round up. Adalynn is too young to do much but sleep. I enjoyed spending time with all the nieces and nephews. Another highlight was racing the dragster cars. It was LauraLee vs. Mandi, Shawn vs. Jackson, Chris vs. Bob, and Cody vs. Kevin. I can't remember who all won who I just know that we all had a blast racing.
The fun continued the next day at Cherry Hills. Cherry Hills is a camping area that is a swim park that also has miniature golf, rock climbing wall, batting cages, hamster haven, and more. It was another day full of fun, sun, and family. There was a water slide the you sit in tubes on and can make a train of people that was great. Mekenna really enjoyed the miniature golf and gave the climbing wall a good try. That evening we had a family dinner at the Golden Coral, which we all ate too much food at.
Finally NO training wheels
Mekenna has done it . . . she learned to ride without training wheels. Back in March we bought her a brand new Bratz bike for her birthday. Just one problem she was too scared to ride without training wheels. The new bike did not have training wheels and we sold her old bike with training wheels. She would ride the new bike across the yard if Shawn started her off holding on to her and if I was at the other end of the yard to catch and stop her. Kind of hard to go on a bike ride like this. One summer evening Clayton and a friend taught Mekenna how to ride a small bike without training wheels. That was all it took for her to gain confidence to ride her big bike all her own. We are proud of her and Clayton for helping her.
